Another 100G link has been added to NetIX’s network to strengthen its Europe / South America connectivity

Sofia, Bulgaria – June 4th, 2025: NetIX, the leading global distributed platform for award-winning connectivity and peering solutions, has expanded its capacity on the EllaLink submarine cable by securing another 100Gbps link, reinforcing its position as a key enabler of ultra-low-latency connectivity between Europe and South America.

Already present on the EllaLink system, this additional 100Gbps link comes in direct response to increasing customer demand for high-performance, high-capacity routes that bypass traditional transatlantic paths and reduce latency between the continents.

EllaLink is the shortest and fastest route between Europe and Latin America, directly connecting data centres in Lisbon, Madrid, Marseille, and São Paulo without unnecessary detours through North America. By doubling its capacity, NetIX ensures more networks and content providers can take advantage of this strategic cable system to improve user experience and enable new digital services across both regions.

“We’ve seen a significant increase in traffic across EllaLink, especially from carriers and platforms looking for faster and more direct paths into Latin America,” said Dean Belev, VP of Connectivity Service at NetIX. “Adding this new 100Gbps circuit allows us to maintain excellent service quality, reduce congestion risks, and give our members room to grow across this important corridor.”

With this capacity expansion, NetIX members can:

• Gain enhanced access to Latin American markets through ultra-low-latency infrastructure

• Leverage a resilient, diverse path that avoids North American congestion points

• Easy scalability with NetIX’s flexible GIX and IP services, all available through a single port and contract

NetIX - part of the Neterra Group - was one of the first networks in the world to take capacity on EllaLink when the cable first launched back in 2022. EllaLink was created to improve connectivity and reduce round-trip time latency between Europe and Brazil by 50 per cent. And since launching, this 5,800-mile (9,334km) subsea cable system has removed the previously-required detour through North America and instead delivers connects these two continents directly improving end user experience for millions of people.

This new 100Gbps link is already active and available for NetIX customers and partners today; if you’re looking to improve your network’s performance whilst accessing new continents, get in touch with the NetIX team: [email protected]
