NetIX 2.0 brings terrestrial and satellite connectivity into one global network
Built in partnership with Starlink, the new architecture turns any location into a point of presence and lets customers set the priority of their traffic.
Sofia, Bulgaria, October 13, 2026: NetIX, Neterra’s global distributed platform for connectivity and peering, today launched NetIX 2.0. This new generation of its network combines NetIX’s terrestrial infrastructure with Starlink’s low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites in a single, fully meshed network. Traffic can travel over land or through space, whichever path suits it best.
NetIX 2.0 also makes traffic priority explicit. Customers assign their traffic to one of four categories: high priority, which takes the shortest available route over land or via satellite; guaranteed; backup; and preemptible capacity for traffic that is not time critical.
“NetIX 2.0 is an evolution of a Revolution, which started 15 years ago,” said Neven Dilkov, Founder and CEO of Neterra. “Until now, a global network was identifiable by the fiber lines connecting its main locations on Earth. Now NetIX adds the vast capabilities of the space-based networks for any-to-any connectivity, including outside of the main data centers. Any location can be a major PoP. NetIX can deliver up to 30% better latency, for high-priority traffic. Because it’s all physics, indeed.”
The new network is built for ISPs, MSPs and carriers that have to handle complex traffic requirements in their networks, with the need to adopt solutions for different business cases with diverging needs:
-
Financial centers trading in global commodities and currencies;
-
Mobile and cable operators that carry a lot of video or other low priority traffic;
-
ISPs that need to reduce their cost for multiple upstream providers;
-
Global direct peering – the NetIX Global Internet Exchange.
“The key difference with NetIX 2.0 is that satellite is integrated into the network architecture rather than treated as a separate access technology,” said Dean Belev, senior product manager Connectivity and NetIX at Neterra. “Traffic is classified according to its requirements and handled accordingly. This gives customers much more control over how their connectivity is engineered and how network resources are used.”
NetIX will also launch an Exclusive Offers bulletin with network news and offers for its community. Members with spare capacity will be able to offer it to other members on the NetIX network.
NetIX 2.0 includes the NetIX’s Global Internet Exchange (GIX), which connects customers to more than 60 IXPs through one port and one cross connect.
