NetIX adds LONAP to its list of connected IXPs

Sofia, Bulgaria – 3rd February 2021: NetIX, the leading global distributed platform for connectivity and peering solutions has today added LONAP - the London Network Access Point - to its list of 30+ connected Internet Exchanges.

This new addition will enable NetIX members to access routes and content from LONAP’s 220+ members through NetIX’s GIX (Global Internet Exchange) or remote peering solutions. Members will be able to greatly improve their reach simply, efficiently and without the need for costly build-outs or investment using NetIX’s network-enhancing solutions.

“We are thrilled to have broadened our Internet Exchange portfolio further with the new addition of LONAP,” said Dean Belev, VP of Services at NetIX. He continued, “Connecting into LONAP and adding their routes improves our service offering and gives our network a very nice boost enabling access to more than 8,000 ASNs directly.”

“We are excited to welcome NetIX as a new member for LONAP. This new partnership will enable NetIX’s members to access our peering platform and start enjoying all the benefits that come from joining LONAP,” said Richard Irving, Managing Director at LONAP.

Many networks noticed higher volumes of traffic during lockdown which in turn can push up operating costs. Peering at NetIX is beneficial to networks of all sizes for three key reasons: lessening the need for IP transit significantly thus reducing network costs, increasing redundancy and improving network resiliency by providing a better end-user experience.

NetIX has experienced a series of record breaking traffic peaks over the past two months; its traffic peaks have increased by over 200 Gbps and now regularly hits impressive peaks of 830 Gbps.

The NetIX platform brings simplicity to network expansions via a single connection; NetIX is home to 140+ members, 30+ IXPs, and 8,000+ networks across 65 cities and any connected network can benefit by connecting to any peer or location using the same port.
