NetIX Expands Its GIX Service To More Than 60 Internet Exchanges
Making global peering simpler via one connection
Sofia, Bulgaria - 10th September 2026: NetIX has expanded its multi-award winning Global Internet Exchange (GIX) service to provide access to more than 60 Internet Exchanges (IXPs) worldwide through a single connection.
This milestone was reached over summer with the addition of the Singapore Internet Exchange (SGIX), further expanding the global community of Internet Exchange networks available through the GIX.
For networks looking to peer globally across dozens of IXPs, building and managing that connectivity individually can quickly become complex; typically, connecting to 60+ exchanges could mean 60+ contracts, membership fees, cross connects, data centre deployments and points of contact, often across multiple countries and timezones.
The GIX simplifies this by bringing that connectivity together through NetIX. A network can connect to the GIX at any of NetIX’s 220+ locations and gain access to more than 60 IXPs through one port, one cross connect and one membership. Additionally, GIX members – of which there are over 200 - can exchange traffic with each other, thus reducing yet another requirement for more transit connections, ports, and cross connects.
This means networks can expand their peering footprint without having to build and manage separate physical connections to every exchange.
“Getting access to multiple Internet Exchanges shouldn’t mean building 60 different solutions,” said Dean Belev, VP of Connectivity Services at NetIX. “With GIX, we take the complexity of the underlying connectivity and consolidate it into a single service. Networks can connect to us at one of our 220+ locations and use that connection to reach more than 60 IXPs, without having to deploy infrastructure and manage connectivity independently at every exchange. It’s peering made simple by NetIX.”
The addition of SGIX further strengthens the GIX’s reach across the Asia Pacific region and adds another very important Internet Exchange to the growing ecosystem available through the service.
“GIX is ultimately about bringing the Internet community closer together,” said Elaine Dixon, Marketing & Partnerships Manager at NetIX. “We’re proud to have built a service that makes it easier for networks to connect to so many Internet Exchanges without the admin nightmare. Winning Best Internet Exchange Provider at Capacity Media’s Global Connectivity Awards last year was a fantastic recognition of what we’re building, but the real achievement is the community behind it: the IXPs and networks that continue to join us and make the GIX more valuable for everyone.”
With more than 60 IXPs now available, the GIX continues to give networks a straightforward way to expand their peering reach while reducing the operational overhead traditionally associated with connecting to multiple Internet Exchanges; are you ready to improve your network with the GIX?
